Need Help?
In the past, vertical pumps were designed to very conservative parameters. The obvious reason for a user of pumps to investigate upgrade potentials is to save maintenance costs or down time. The solutions lie in altering the mechanical design to extend the life of the components; altering the hydraulic design to make the pump characteristic more closely meet the system requirements; upgrading materials to obtain a direct increase in pump life; or making system modifications to the extent that these would reduce maintenance costs. This paper summarizes the critical elements in each type of upgrade and points out typical upgrade possibilities. The summaries and suggested upgrades are specific and detailed.
