Part A of this standard provides minimum requirements for line-shaft vertical turbine pumps utilizing discharge column pipe up to and including 16 in. (400 mm) in size. The standard deals with a pump configuration up to and including the driver. Only electric motors are referred to as prime movers. Part B of this standard provides minimum requirements for submersible vertical turbine pumps utilizing a 7 1/2-hp motor or larger. The current standard is a revision of ANSI/AWWA E101-77 (R82). Major revisions to this edition of the standard include the following: editorial changes for clarity and accuracy; revision of material lists in Tables 1 and 4 to delete references to obsolete standards and to comply with current manufacturing practices; addition of a formula for design of shaft couplings (Sec. A-4.1.4); and deletion of tables for selection of electrical cables for submersible pumps.
