This slide presentation outlines information on the New York City Department of Environmental Protection's (NYCDEP) use of web-based software for managing construction information. The issues NYCDEP was facing included: compressed construction schedules;
reduced CM budgets;
mega projects receiving/generating over 20,000
pages of documentation per month;
new, more diverse types of information required
(digital photographs, electronic submittals etc); and,
no established standards for collecting and reporting
information. The web-based construction management program offers to: centralize access to construction project
information;
provide a simple platform for communication;
standardize business processes; and,
provide a method to document all information throughout the project.
