CYII considers preventive maintenance of its distribution network a matter of paramount importance. Consequently, ten years ago, the first preventive maintenance policy was designed and implemented. This policy was based on periodic inspection of every element in the distribution network. An application, which performed planning on a monthly basis, and printed revision work orders, was developed and implemented. The procedure was refined with time, focusing on the fact that the first version required too many resources to be undertaken. Recently, a complete revision has been carried out, leading to a completely new practice. New software, known as APYMA (Spanish acronym for Application to Support Preventive Maintenance), has been developed to support these new procedures. The paper explains in detail both the old and the new policy, and describes APYMA's architecture and features. Includes figures.
