Document Imaging Systems integrated with geographical information systems (GIS) applications are providing valuable
additions to daily work processes across a wide variety of units of local government.
Some of the agencies or departments benefiting from these applications would be wastewater treatment facilities, Public Works Departments, Power & Light Utilities and water
districts.
Document Imaging applications are paving the way for greater access to information
through the use of web technology, streamlining work processes through efficient search
and retrieval and creating efficiencies of time and space. Research has shown how once this digital archive is created, integrations with GIS applications
are simple and straightforward.
