A statistically designed experiment for comparison (equivalency) testing of analytical methods used in water treatment plants is described in this paper. The design takes into account the variables most often encountered in routine water quality determinations. Application of the design under actual operating conditions at water treatment plants is discussed and statistical analyses of example data are detailed. The estimates of single-analyst precision obtained with this design may reflect the results encountered at any water treatment plant. Includes 5 references, tables.
