This article discusses the role of arbitration and mediation in resolving construction disputes. The following topics are addressed: the role of the American Arbitration Association (AAA) in training qualified arbitrators and mediators; the kinds of cases that have been solved through arbitration in the past; the availability and training of expert arbitrators; arbitrator disclosure; the role of arbitration in international disputes; and mediation. The use of arbitration or mediation in resolving construction disputes proves more expeditious, less costly, and less time-consuming than litigation. Includes 3 references.
