The USEPA recently attempted again to implement comprehensive regulations to control urban stormwater runoff, which contributes significant pollutants to the nation's waterways. The effort apparently will have no immediate impact on water utility operations, although certain utility practices, such as discharging treated water into storm sewers, could be subject to regulation. Water suppliers, however, stand to gain by the rule's ultimate effect of further improving source-water quality. Includes table.
