The San Diego County Water Authority has nearly completed a 3.4-mi (5.5-km), 72-in.-(1,830-mm-) diameter potable water pipeline and associated facilities in northwest San Diego County, California. The north county distribution pipeline project includes the pipeline, three flow control and metering facilities, a 1-mil-gal (0.0004 x 10 6-m3) prestressed concrete regulating structure, and a chlorine contact tank. The pipeline parallels and crosses two 24-in.-(610-mm-) diameter potable lines that serve 85 percent of the daily water supply to Oceanside, California. Construction began in March 1995 and concluded late in 1996. Includes figures.
