This paper discusses a database built from long-term (50+ years) data on urban
water production in California, home to one of every eight residents in the
United States. It allows analysis of trends in urban water production and
evaluation of climate, water supply availability, pricing, or socioeconomic
effects on water production. Researchers can also use the data to evaluate
reasons for differences in per-capita water production among neighboring water
systems or to evaluate the effects of hydrologic conditions such as droughts that
transcend a single geographic region. Includes 7 references, tables, figures.
