This column discusses the monitoring and compliance deadlines, starting in 2003,
for eight new and forthcoming US Environmental Protection Agency drinking water
regulations especially for groundwater systems. It describes how the American
Water Works Association's (AWWA) Technical and Educational Council is preparing
to launch a long-range regulatory training program for water system managers and
operators. A list of web sites is given that provide more information on AWWA's
current array of technical and educational events and resources. Includes figure.
