A simple colorimetric procedure was developed for apparent color determinations utilizing platinum-cobalt standards and expressing the results in Hazen units. Precision of comparator disc procedures is compared to that of spectrophotometric and colorimetric procedures. Absorbance spectra, effect of particulates, and broad band filters are covered.
