Meter readers' productivity is affected by diverse working conditions, different types and locations of meters, customer demand, number of meter readers, and other comparable factors. The New Haven Water Company in Connecticut used types of meters and their location to determine a fair day's work, and data were computerized to indicate meter type and standard reading time required. The system saves time, assures accurate records, and provides economies in the number of meter readers and routes necessary to cover the Company's territory. Includes figures.
