As aluminum concentrations are increased at constant pH, a point is reached at which the electrophoretic mobility of a particle becomes essentially equal to t/4K4hzYhluminum hydroxide precipitate formed in the absence of particles. The results of this study support the contention that hydrolyzed aluminum adsorbs on the particles and forms a coating of aluminum hydroxide precipitate. Charge neutralization, restabilization effects of anions and pH, double-layer compression, aluminum hydroxide solubility, and addition of aluminum sulfate are covered. Includes 22 references, table, figures.
