This powerpoint presentation begins by providing a brief overview of Alameda County Public Works Agency's (ACPWA's) objectives for the strategic planning process, including:
promote a more customer-driven philosophy;
align departments within the agency; employ a more "business-like" approach to planning and execution; and,
understand and achieve goals related to demographic, environmental,
economic, and resource trends. The presentation focuses on the following topics: Strategic Planning 101; the Strategic Planning Process; ACPWA's situation and Strategic Plan;
example objectives and action items; and,
implementation and tracking. As a result of the process, ACPWA was able to:
develop departmental action items based on a common Vision, Mission,
and Goals;
develop a plan that communicates effectively to all levels of the
organization;
align the agency's plan with county-wide strategic planning; and,
garner organizational buy-in at all levels.
