In this study, upgrading advanced water purification systems was studied by combining
an ozone resistant microfiltration (MF) membrane (referred to as the "ozone resistant MF
membrane" with ozone for pretreatment with a view to applying membrane filtration
technology to medium and large purification plants).
In this system, ozone was added to the raw water and the water with ozone left was
filtered by the ozone resistant MF membrane, to simultaneously achieve high membrane
filtration flux (4 to 5m3/m2/d) and advanced water treatment.
This paper discusses membrane filtration performance, treated water quality,
chemical cleaning recovery of MF membranes and high membrane filtration
flux with ozonation, using a pilot plant composed of ozone, ozone resistant MF membrane
and granular activated carbon (GAC). Includes 2 references, tables, figures.
