A modeling procedure was developed to predict TOC removal by PAC in PAC/UF systems operating in a semi-batch mode. Model predictions were made for different carbon doses and backwashing frequencies. These predictions were successfully verified using field data from large-scale PAC/UF pilots. The modeling procedure can facilitate the design of such units.
