The Irvine Ranch Water District (IRWD) supplies irrigation and domestic water for
a rapidly developing metropolitan community in Irvine, California. The
cornerstone of IRWD's extensive reclaimed water program is the development of a
dual distribution system. This paper discusses IRWD's Wetlands Water Supply
project and the Green Acres Project (GAP) Intertie which is a cooperative project
between IRWD, Orange County Water District (OCWD), and the city of Newport Beach
(CNB). The GAP project will convey excess winter production of reclaimed water
from the Michelson Water Reclamation Plant (MWRP) to end-users located outside
IRWD, under service agreements with OCWD and the city of Newport Beach. Includes 2 references.
