This paper addresses the influence of purchased water with high DBP levels on retail distribution systems and the difficulties this presents with respect to implementation of the Disinfectants/Disinfection Byproducts Rule. It also addresses effective distribution system monitoring and obtaining quality data from a monitoring program. Finally, it discusses distribution system management for disinfection byproduct control, and the necessity for cooperation between wholesalers and retailers to establish an effective management program.
