Ultraviolet (UV) disinfection is receiving increased attention in the drinkingwater industry as a method for utilities to comply with upcoming disinfection regulations. As most disinfectants provide multiple benefits (disinfection and oxidation), this study was conducted to determine whether UV light will provide multiple benefits as well. This study investigated the ability of UV light to remove bromate, N-nitrosodimethylamine (NDMA), methyl tert-butyl ether (MTBE), and the taste and odor compounds 2-methylisoborneol (MIB) and geosmin. Several water matrices were examined. Includes 35 references, tables, figures.
