In this research, we developed a negative ESI/LC/MS method coupled with SPE to provide sensitive analysis of six natural and synthetic estrogens in source water and drinking water. The natural estrogens analyzed in this study include 17beta-estradiol, 7alpha-estradiol, and estriol, and estrone. Two synthetic estrogens analyzed in this study were 17alpah-Ethynylestradiol which is used in oral birth control contraceptive pills and diethylstilbestrol which is used as an antinausea drug and for prevention of premature labor.
