A primary mission of the AWWA Water Quality and Technology Division Disinfection Systems
Committee is to survey and report on drinking water disinfection practices. This paper
provides a preliminary summary of the Committee's fourth survey of drinking water utility
disinfection practices since the advent of disinfection byproduct regulations in the late
1970's. The final survey data analysis will be summarized in the Disinfection Survey 2007
Committee Report, which is expected to be published in 2008. This summary describes the
survey processes, followed by tables and graphs from the preliminary data analysis as compiled
for presentation at the AWWA Water Quality and Technology Conference in Charlotte, North
Carolina on November 5, 2007. Includes tables, figures.
