This powerpoint presentation begins by providing a brief overview of animal feeding operations (AFOs), concentrated animal feeding operations (CAFOs), AFO wastes and characteristics, and potential impacts of AFOs on water quality. Regulatory history is presented, along with
CAFO Rule requiring all CAFOs to: be permitted as a
point source; develop plans for storing, using,
and disposing of animal wastes; and, to
prepare annual compliance reports on waste
disposal practices.

strategies for water utilities, and several case studies.
