This powerpoint presentation begins by providing a brief overview of previous estimations of OH-EfOM rates, and then presents research goals that include the following: measure the reaction rate constant between OH
and EfOM,
bulk samples and
different sites; and,
evaluate the use of EfOM properties to predict the
obtained reaction rate constants. The experimental design consisted of the following: evaluate EfOM reactivity towards OH;
collect samples at different reuse utilities; measure reaction rate constants;
characterize EfOM; and, the
emphasis is on bulk characterization (i.e., no isolation). Presentation summary includes the following: quantification of the OH-EfOM second order rate constant
resulted in a better understanding of scavenging capacity;
established a model relating EfOM properties to OH-EfOM
reaction rate constant; and,
examined the effect of oxidation on the rates which resulted in no effect. Includes tables, figures.
