This is the amended Part 1 in a multi-part series of international safety standards on "luminaires", aka complete electric lighting units. Part 1 provides a set of requirements and tests that are considered generally applicable to most types of luminaire and that can be called up as required by the detailed specifications in Part 2, which consists of around 20 standards that each deal with a specific type of luminaire.
The amendment was raised so that BS EN IEC 60598-1:2021+A1:2022 can be cited in the Official Journal of the European Union and can therefore provide a means of conforming to the safety objectives of the Low Voltage Directive 2014/35/EU.
