Scope
This technical report contains guidelines regarding maintenance to be performed on CARDIAC DEFIBRILLATORS, as defined in clause 3 below, by clinical engineering personnel. This report does not apply to automatic implantable DEFIBRILLATORS and automatic external DEFIBRILLATORS.
The application guidelines of this report deal with the maintenance of CARDIAC DEFIBRILLATORS constructed according to the safet y requirements of IEC 601-1 and 601-2-4.
Not all existing CARDIAC DEFIBRILLATORS meet the requirements of current International Standards, however, the guidelines laid down in this report will still be helpful when maintaining these devices. /

Domaine d'application
Le present rapport technique contient des directives concernant la maintenance devant etre effectuee sur les DEFIBRILLATEURS CARDIAQUES tels que definis a l'article 3 ci-apres, par le personnel technique biomedical. Ce rapport ne s'applique pas aux DEFIBRILLATEURS implantables automatiques, ni aux DEFIBRILLATEURS externes automatiques.
Les directives d'application contenues dans le present rapport traitent de la maintenance des DEFIBRILLATEURS CARDIAQUES construits conformement aux prescriptions de securite des CEI 601-1 et 601-2-4.
Tous les DEFIBRILLATEURS CARDIAQUES existants ne respectent pas les prescriptions minimales des Normes internationales actuelles, toutefois les directives contenues dans le present rapport rendront toujours service pour la maintenance de ces dispositifs.
