This standard applies to a mixture of ingredients compounded for use on floors, prior to sweeping, to reduce dust.
Oil-based sweeping compounds produced to this standard are suitable for use on wood, steel and other floorings that are not varnished, sealed, painted or waxed, and that are not affected by the sand or mineral oil in the product. They are not to be used on floors of asphalt, rubber or vinyl tile, or on unfinished wood floors that are to be finished later.
The testing and evaluation of a product against this standard may require the use of materials and/or equipment that could be hazardous.
