1. Scope
1.1
This Standard applies to special purpose enclosures for electrical equipment intended to be installed and used in non- hazardous locations in accordance with the Rules of the Canadian Electrical Code, Part I, as follows: (a) enclosures for indoor location, Types 2, 5, 12, 12K and 13; and (b) enclosures for indoor or outdoor location, Types 3, 3R, 3S, 4, 4X, 6, and 6P.
1.2
This Standard applies to enclosures which provide a degree o f protection to personnel against accidental contact with the enclosed equipment, and to the enclosed equipment, against specific environmental conditions.
1.3
This Standard supplements requirements for enclosures that are contained in individual CSA Part II Standards, where the application of the enclosures covered by this Standard are gover ned by the requirements of the applicable equipment Standard and Rules of the Canadian Electrical Code, Part I.
1.4
This Standard does not apply to enclosures intended for protection of equipment against conditions such as condensation, icing, corrosion, or contamination which may occur within the enclosure, or which may enter via conduit or unsealed openings.
1.5
This Standard does not apply to enclosures for motors and generators.
