1. Scope
1.1
This Standard applies to factory-made, air-source, air- sink, split-system, unitary air-conditioners and heat pumps, matching assemblies of the type classified in Clause 1.4, intended for air-conditioning and heating applications in buildings.
1.2
This Standard applies only to electrically driven, mechanical, vapour-compression-type systems charged with one of the refrigerants listed in Group 1 of CSA Standard B52, Mechanical Refrigeration Code.
1.3
This Standard covers equipment rated below 19.0 kW (65,000 Btu/h) heating or cooling at standard rating conditions as listed in Clause 7.2.
1.4
Unitary equipment within the scope of this Standard is classified as follows: Unitary air-conditioners, Unitary heat pumps; Designation, ARI classification.
1.5
This Standard does not apply to burner-assisted air-source heat pumps or to air-source, air-sink multifunction, or integrated vapour-compression-type heat pump systems.
