1. Scope

This Standard applies to horizontal-axis and vertical-axis compact and standard automatic household clothes washers.
1.2
This Standard does not apply to wringer washers, twin tub washers/spinners, sink faucet-connected clothes washers, portable washers, or semi-automatic clothes washers.
1.3
This Standard does not provide a means for determining the water and energy consumption of a clothes washer with an adaptive control system unless it is provided with an alternative manual control system (ie, a user-selectable control system) that allows selection of the operating mode of the machine by the user.
