This is the first edition of CAN/CSA-C60104, Aluminium-magnesium-silicon alloy wire for overhead line conductors, which is an adoption, with Canadian deviations, of the identically titled CEI/IEC (Commission Électrotechnique Internationale/International Electrotechnical Commission) Standard 60104 (second edition, 1987-12).

This Standard was reviewed for Canadian adoption by the CSA Technical Committee on Overhead Electrical Conductors, under the jurisdiction of the Strategic Steering Committee on Power Engineering and Electromagnetic Compatibility, and has been formally approved by the Technical Committee. A list of the members of the Technical Committee is available upon request. This Standard has been approved as a National Standard of Canada by the Standards Council of Canada.

Scope:

This Standard is applicable to aluminium-magnesium-silicon alloy wires of two designations having different mechanical and electrical properties for the manufacture of stranded conductors for overhead power transmission purposes. It specifies the mechanical and electrical properties of wires in the diameter range 1.25 mm to 6.50 mm.

The two designations are A2 and A4 respectively.
