This is the second edition of CAN/CSA-C61089,
Round wire concentric lay overhead electrical stranded conductors, which is an adoption, with Canadian deviations, of the identically titled CEI/IEC (Commission Électrotechnique Internationale/International Electrotechnical Commission) Standard 1089 (first edition, 1991-05). It supersedes the previous edition published in 2003 as CAN/CSA-C61089.
Scope:
1.1
This Standard specifies the electrical and mechanical characteristics of round wire concentric lay overhead electrical stranded conductors made of combinations of any of the following metal wires:
(a) aluminum wires:
(i) hard-drawn aluminum in accordance with CAN/CSA-C60889, designated A1
(ii) aluminum alloy AA6101-T81 in accordance with CAN/CSA-C60104, designated A2
(iii) aluminum alloy AA6101-T83 in accordance with CAN/CSA-C60104, designated A4
(b) zinc-coated steel wires in accordance with CAN/CSA-C60888:
(i) regular strength steel, designated S1A or S1B, where A and B are zinc coating classes
(ii) high strength steel, designated S2A or S2B
(iii) extra high strength steel, designated S3A
(c) aluminum-clad steel wires in accordance with CAN/CSA-C61232 using Class 20, designated 20SA Type A, corresponding to a conductivity of 20.3% IACS.
