1. Scope
1.1
This Standard provides energy and lighting performance requirements for highmast luminaires using high-pressure sodium (H PS) lamps.
1.2
This Standard applies to highmast luminaires used along streets, roadways, highways, and expressways, at intersections, and at interchanges in standard layout arrangements.
1.3
The minimum requirements established by this Standard are based on average illuminance, illuminance ratios, rated lamp wat ts, and reference lamp lumens.
1.4
This Standard is based on technical data gathered from manufacturers and calculations performed on this data for lumin aires without internal or external shielding to reduce glare or trespass (spill) lighting into areas adjacent to the roadway being illuminated.
