1. Scope

This Standard specifies the requirements for all self- retracting devices (SRDs) used as connecting components in personal fall-arrest systems. SRDs are further classified in this Standard according to method of use and effective length.
1.2 The equipment specified in this Standard is intended for use rs at risk of potential falls from height while at work.
1.3
This Standard outlines requirements for labelling products and providing instructions for use that will inform the user of performance limitations, inspection, maintenance, and hazards associated with misuse.
1.4 Some self-retracting devices for personal fall-arrest systems incorporate a means of worker retrieval following a fall-arrest incident.
