La Norma contiene prescrizioni per la sicurezza degli apparecchi per la terapia a microonde usati nella pratica medica. (Per apparecchio per la terapia a microonde si intende un apparecchio per il trattamento del paziente per mezzo di un campo elettromagnetico nell'intervallo di frequenze superiori ai 300 MHz ma non superiori ai 30 GHz).
