La Norma si applica alle unità ed alle batterie di condensatori per impiego all'esterno, utilizzate soprattutto per il rifasamento delle installazioni di generazione di calore per induzione, di fusione, di saldatura o di colata, e per applicazioni similari, alimentate da una tensione alternata controllata o regolabile avente una gamma di frequenza fino a 50 Hz e un valore nominale di tensione non superiore a 3.6 kV.
