La Norma si applica alle vasche ad alimentazione elettrica per idromassaggio e anche agli apparecchi per la circolazione d'aria o di acqua nelle vasche convenzionali.
lncorpora inoltre la Modifica A1 CENELEC che amplia il campo di applicazione della Norma alle vasche e piscine di tipo "spa" in cui si possono immergere più persone contemporaneamente e in cui sono previsti mezzi per insufflare aria nell'acqua e far circolare l'acqua eventualmente anche riscaldata.
Non si applica alle apparecchiature per la circolazione dell'acqua nelle piscine e nelle vasche per fisioterapia, agli apparecchi per la pulizia delle piscine e alle vasche destinate ad un uso medicale.
