La presente Norma si applica agli elementi in ceramica di catene di isolatori a fusto lungo per linee aeree in corrente alternata a tensione superiore a 1000 V e frequenza non superiore a 100 Hz o ad isolatori di progetto simile da impiegare nelle stazioni elettriche o nella trazione elettrica. Essa si applica agli elementi con terminazione a forcella ad entrambe le estremità per l'accoppiamento a mazzetta o con terminazione ad orbita ad entrambe le estremità per l'accoppiamento a bottone.
La presente Norma prescrive valori specificati delle caratteristiche meccaniche ed elettriche e le dimensioni principali degli elementi di catena.
