La Norma tratta della sicurezza dei ventilatori, definiti come apparecchi automatici che hanno lo scopo di aumentare o fornire ventilazione ai polmoni del paziente quando sono inseriti nelle sue vie aeree, impostati per trattamenti di terapia intensiva.
La Norma non si applica a dispositivi per fornire una pressione continua positiva (CPAP) dispositivi per la terapia dell’apnea del sonno, ventilatori per emergenza e trasporto, ventilatori jet e alta frequenza e oscillatori.
La presente Norma riporta il testo in inglese e italiano della EN 60601-2-12; rispetto al precedente fascicolo n. 8582E di novembre 2006, essa contiene la traduzione completa della EN sopra indicata.
