La Norma si applica alla costruzione e ad alcuni aspetti relativi all'installazione, prove di tipo e prove in sito di acceleratori di elettroni per radioterapia che in condizioni normali emettono un fascio di radiazioni X e/o radiazione elettronica destinati a radioterapia a fascio fisso e mobile.
La norma specifica le prescrizioni per assicurare la protezione contro i rischi da radiazioni ionizzanti, rischi di natura elettrica e meccanica e indica le prove per verificare la conformità a tali prescrizioni.
La presente norma annulla e sostituisce la norma CEI 62-35:1998 che tuttavia rimane in vigore in parallelo fino al 01-05-2001.
