La Norma descrive i metodi di misura applicabili ai dispositivi optoelettronici a semiconduttori utilizzati nel campo dei sistemi e sottosistemi di comunicazione digitali a fibre ottiche.
Le principali differenze rispetto alla precedente edizione riguardano la rimozione della descrizione di alcune caratteristiche analogiche e la revisione di alcune definizioni e termini per garantire la coerenza con altri documenti del settore.
La Norma in oggetto sostituisce completamente la Norma CEI EN 62007-2:2001-11 che rimane applicabile fino al 01-02-2012.
Questa Norma viene pubblicata dal CEI nella sola lingua inglese in quanto particolarmente mirata a settori specialistici.
La presente Norma recepisce il testo originale inglese della Pubblicazione IEC.
