This standard applies to one-component acrylic polymer base joint-sealing compounds that cure essentially by evaporation of the solvent present, and are suitable for sealing, caulking or glazing applications in buildings, on substrates of glass, metal, masonry or wood.

The compounds may be used in interior or exterior joints that have movements up to plus or minus 7-1/2%, but are not suitable for use in traffic areas subjected to continuous water immersion, areas where the back of the joint will be subjected to prolonged immersion in water, or in horizontal deck-type joints.
