This is an editor's glossary. It has plenty of printing terms, true, but far from all. A piece of ironmongery in a print shop is not identified unless an editor is likely to bump into it, trip over it or talk about it as he oversees later stages of production. Some 550 terms are defined. Another 40 covering aspects of computer-printing are in the appendix where they are easy to find.
With this glossary the editorial newcomer has the means of becoming more fluent with writer, photographer, graphic arttist, type setter and printer. If the editor is clear to them, all will be that much clearer when their efforts are combined on the printed page. And whatever public the editor is trying to reach will pay that much more attention.
