Summarizes the effort to extend and validate the work of RT-272, Advanced Work Packaging, particularly that team's exploratory findings on implementing its AWP model, which included definitions, procedures, contracting guidelines, job role descriptions, checklists, and templates. Describes the methodology used to evaluate the relationship between AWP implementation and project performance, and to identify typical AWP implementation pathways and levels of AWP maturity. This methodology included case studies, surveys, focus groups, and expert interviews. Presents the findings that AWP delivers dramatic performance improvements in field productivity, cost and schedule performance, project predictability, and related benefits in safety, quality, and project team alignment. Also documents additional benefits, difficulties, and lessons learned to support practitioners during AWP adoption.
