Computer-aided detection (CADe) and computer-aided diagnosis (CADx) systems, collectively referred to as CAD systems, are playing increasingly important roles in aiding radiologists to improve their accuracy in the detection and diagnosis of various diseases, particularly cancers. e development of CAD systems requires multidisciplinary technologies from image processing, pattern recognition, arti cial intelligence, to medical imaging. With the remarkable progress in these  elds, CAD has advanced rapidly since the 1980s and has become one of the major research topics in medical imaging.
