Preface

The preparation of the third edition of this book has involved a number of major changes. First, we have taken on a new co-author, Roger Ho. Roger has relatively recent experience of preparing for and sitting the examinations of the membership of the Royal College of Psychiatrists and is actively involved in teaching candidates based in Singapore. Second, we have added new chapters and, within existing chapters, we have included new material (including NICE guidelines), updated the DSMIV- TR criteria to the new DSM-5, and cited more recent references. Finally, we have included many more figures. As with previous editions, we believe the third edition of Revision Notes in Psychiatry should prove useful not only for the membership of the Royal College of Psychiatrists but also for similar postgraduate examinations in psychiatry in other parts of the English-speaking world.
