Preface
This is the first edition of CSA Special Publication A443, Manual of Terms and Definitions Recommended for Use in CSA Masonry Standards. These definitions are specific to the Canadian masonry industry and are intended to promote uniformity of use in CSA Standards and the industry as a whole. It is recognized th at these definitions may not be the same as those used in current editions of CSA masonry Standards. However, when new editions of those Standards are published, this Special Publication will become the principal reference for all masonry definitions. The definitions have been developed from those provided in the applicable masonry Standards, brochures, guide studies, and technical notes.
This Special Publication is subject to amendment after publication. Suggestions for additions, changes, or deletions should be sent to the CSA Standards Administrator.
This Special Publication was prepared by an ad hoc committee of the CSA Standard Steering Committee on Masonry; it was reviewed by the Chairmen of the Technical Committees under the jurisdiction of the Steering Committee. It was formally approved by the Standards Steering Committee on Masonry.
