1.1.1 This standard applies to newly produced automatic gas shutoff valves and devices constructed entirely of new, unused parts and materials.

1.1.2 An automatic gas shutoff device shall operate when the temperature sensing element is at 210 degrees F (99 degrees C) or less. A device with a higher operating temperature is not acceptable under this standard.

1.1.3 Exhibit A contains provisions that are unique to the United States.

1.1.4 Exhibit B contains provisions that are unique to Canada.

1.1.5 Exhibit C contains a list of reference standards.
