1. Scope
1.1
This Standard applies to complete flue-connected, oil-fired steam and/or hot-water low pressure boilers, provided with automatic control devices.
1.2
This Standard applies to boilers intended for residential use having an input of less than 3 gallons per hour (US) (approximately 400,000 Btu/h).
Note: A boiler which has an input exceeding this limit may be considered under this Standard, provided it is one of a series of boilers, differing in size, and provided the other boilers in the series are within this limit.
1.3
This Standard applies to boilers, factory- or field- assembled, which have been, or could have been, completely assembled at the manufacturer's plant and transported in the assembled condition.
1.4
A unit which differs from that contemplated by this Standard may be examined and tested according to the intent of the Standard.
1.5
A unit which otherwise complies with the requirements of this Standard will not necessarily be deemed as complying with the Standard if it has other, or a combination of, features which, when examined and tested, are found to impair the result contemplated.
1.6
This Standard also applies to boilers intended for heating swimming pool water.
