1. Scope
1.1 This Standard applies to lead pipes, traps, plain bends, bends and stubs with ferrules and accessories suitable for use in water supply and drainage. Note: The use of lead pipe for water supply lines where water has corrosive effects on lead may render the water unsafe for drinking or for culinary purposes. Usually local health offices have adequate information regarding the characteristics of local water supplies in this respect.
1.2 This Standard includes material specifications, weights and dimensions for pipe, traps, bends, stubs and ferrules; chemical requirements for solder and caulking materials; markings for pipe, traps, bends, and stubs. Test requirements for bends and stubs with ferrules are also covered.
